EcoTriplex Penis Study
What is the EcoTriplex study?
The penile EcoTriplex is an advanced ultrasound test that combines real-time ultrasound with pulsed-wave color Doppler (Triplex). It allows for the examination of the penis’s anatomy, the presence of plaques or calcifications, as well as the diameter of the cavernous arteries and the velocity of arterial and venous blood flow.
During the test, the patient lies down, and the penis is examined both at rest and during an erection, which is achieved through a painless injection of a vasodilator (prostaglandin) administered to the side of the penis. The study takes approximately 45 minutes.

The role of EcoTriplex in diagnosis and treatment
Assessment of Erectile Dysfunction
The evaluation helps determine whether erectile dysfunction has a physical or psychological cause. In cases with an organic cause, it allows for an assessment of the severity of the problem and helps guide the specialist in selecting the most appropriate and personalized treatment.
Analysis of Penile Curvature (Peyronie's Disease)
It is also used to assess penile curvature and the presence of plaques responsible for the deformity. This helps in accurately planning potential treatments or surgical procedures, ensuring a safe approach tailored to each patient.
