Participation of Dr. Josep Torremadé in the IV ANCAP National Congress for Prostate Cancer Patients in Alicante

Last Friday, March 6th, the IV ANCAP National Congress for Prostate Cancer Patients was held in Alicante at the Official College of Physicians of Alicante (COMA), located at Avinguda de Dénia, 47.

During this national meeting dedicated to prostate cancer patients, Dr. Josep Torremadé Barreda, urologist and andrologist, took part in the scientific program as a speaker in Panel 6: Male Sexual Health, held from 1:05 pm to 1:35 pm, alongside Dr. Agustín Fraile, urologist at Ramón y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid.

A Congress Focused on the Prostate Cancer Patient

Under the motto:

“Your Voice, Your Story, Your Fight”

The congress placed patients at the center of the conversation, addressing not only oncological treatment but also the physical, emotional, and sexual consequences that may arise after surgery or radiotherapy.

This type of event creates a space to speak openly, share real experiences, and learn about the latest research advances, all with the aim of improving patient care and support.

Male Sexual Health After Prostate Cancer Treatment

During the round table discussion, Dr. Josep Torremadé addressed one of the most significant yet often under-discussed aspects of prostate cancer treatment:

The impact of prostate cancer therapies on male sexual function.

Key topics included:

  • Erectile dysfunction after radical prostatectomy
  • Ejaculatory changes
  • Hormonal alterations
  • Psychological and emotional impact
  • Current options for sexual rehabilitation

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of not normalizing sexual dysfunction as an inevitable consequence, but rather approaching it proactively through specialized andrology care.

Restoring Quality of Life After Treatment

Functional recovery goes beyond cancer control. Sexual health is an essential part of overall well-being.

Dr. Torremadé highlighted the importance of:

  • Early post-surgical evaluation
  • Penile rehabilitation protocols
  • Personalized treatment strategies
  • A multidisciplinary approach

The goal is clear: to improve quality of life and provide tailored medical solutions adapted to each patient’s clinical situation.

Commitment to Patient-Centered Medicine

Participation in the ANCAP National Congress reflects a strong commitment to ongoing medical education, scientific dissemination, and continuous improvement in the treatment of sexual side effects related to prostate cancer.

Events like this:

  • Give visibility to real patient needs
  • Promote scientific exchange
  • Humanize medical practice
  • Encourage open and constructive dialogue

Acknowledgment to ANCAP

We would like to express our gratitude to the ANCAP Board of Directors for the excellent organization of the congress and for promoting initiatives that truly place patients at the heart of healthcare discussions.

Every story matters. Every voice counts. And through collaborative efforts, we continue moving toward more comprehensive and compassionate care.
