Dr. Josep Torremade discusses penile fracture and Peyronie’s disease on SER Catalunya

Dr. Josep Torremade, director, urologist and andrologist at Andrologia Barcelona (part of Taus Clinics), took part in the SER Catalunya radio programme with journalist Jordi Cartañá to discuss two male health issues that are often little known yet highly impactful: penile fracture and Peyronie’s disease.

During the interview, Dr. Torremade emphasized that penile fracture is a true medical emergency requiring immediate attention.

“A penile fracture is a real emergency. It usually occurs due to trauma during an erection, typically during sexual intercourse, and requires urgent medical care to prevent long-term consequences.”

This injury can cause sudden pain, bruising and loss of erection. Prompt assessment by a specialist is essential to reduce the risk of complications such as penile curvature or sexual dysfunction.

At Andrologia Barcelona, early evaluation and appropriate treatment significantly improve outcomes.

Dr. Torremade also discussed Peyronie’s disease, a condition involving the formation of fibrous plaques inside the penis.

“Fibrous plaques form inside the penis, causing abnormal curvature, pain and difficulties with erection.”

Although still surrounded by taboo, it affects a considerable number of men, particularly from mid-life onwards, and may interfere with sexual activity and emotional wellbeing.

Andrologia Barcelona offers specialized expertise in andrology and comprehensive management of this condition.
